Too Much Time & Not Enough Time

So anyone that follows my blog knows that I hardly EVER write. I write maybe once a year. I'm just not good at remembering to write-- it's not at the top of my priority list. I like reading others blogs, but I usually only check their blogs if they post on their facebook "Another post on my blog!" and follow it with a link to their blog. So to anyone deeply offended that I do not write often, I am sorry. I just don't think there's really anyone who would feel that way though, so that's why I don't feel any pressure to write.
Currently I am working for Ajilon (a temp agency in Bellevue) and they have put me on an assignment at Eagle Home Mortgage in Seattle. Eagle Home Mortgage in right on Lake Union. They have a gorgeous view from their 7th story windows. They brought me here because their receptionist is on a 3 month maternity leave. There's about 5 people in the office (including the receptionist), so it's a very small office. The first day I got here, Diane (the first person I met) said to me, "okay, let's get you on a computer so you can at least be on facebook all day so you don't get bored!" Wait... what?? I thought I was here to work? Okay.
I get about maybe 10 calls per day that I have to transfer to the people in the office, and that's about the extent of my work thus far. So, I have all this time on my hands at work.
Meanwhile, Nelson and I are frantically looking for an apartment in Rexburg that will be available in the Spring (we have put our names on several waiting lists), and I'm still trying to get everything else in order for the wedding. I'm not overwhelmed right now though. (We'll see if that changes.) There's only so much I can do at work for the wedding and apartment hunting without seeming like I'm here to do nothing... you know? I wouldn't be comfortable being on my cell phone making calls to apartments while I'm sitting at the front desk.
Hmm. Well, on the upside, maybe you'll see more posts from me. :)

Planning the WEDDING

It's a little bit overwhelming. There are so many things that have to be planned. Thankfully, I have a wonderful friend (Carolyn Cahoon) who is helping me out with certain things. It's funny, because she is getting married a mere 3 weeks after me, and she has her own wedding to plan, too!

Vinyl Clock

I know it's been a LONG time since my last post. It's okay though, because I'm posting now. Sara and I were at a little gift shop in Issaquah and we came across a clock made from a vinyl record. I wanted it so bad, but they were selling it for $26! So I said to myself, I can make that... and with a record I want! So I did. :) This is an Alice Cooper record.

Journal Entry for my Scripture Study Class this week

This week in class when we touched on chapter 8 in John, I decided to read the whole chapter, and then I read chapter 9 cause I couldn’t stop. Chapter 8 is about the woman caught in the act of adultery, and chapter 9 is about Jesus healing the blind man and giving him sight. I L-O-V-E these chapters, and what I love most about them isn’t necessarily the actual healing of the blind man, or the non-stoning of the woman, but I love Jesus’ responses to the Pharisees and Scribes, and also how the blind man defends Jesus in the temple. Some verses that stood out to me were John 8:34—“Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” This statement came after his other statement in verse 32 which says, “and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”, and the scribes and Pharisees were like, hey, our people were never in bondage to any man, so how can you say we will be made free?
I like these two things for these reasons. One, the Pharisees are dumb, because they chose not to listen and understand. But also, in the phrase “and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” is a statement that contains an action word. “know”. The word “know” in the scriptures implies an action. When it’s talking about a man and the scripture says, “and he knew her”, it doesn’t mean that they were acquainted. It means there was an intimate action that took place. When Jesus says “and ye shall know the truth”, he’s saying, “and when you have a testimony of the truth (which is also an intimate connection) and change your lives to live in accordance with the truth of the gospel, it will make you free from sin.”
In another verse Jesus tells us (verse 44) that there is no truth in the Devil. Satan may take half truths and couple them with lies, but the overall message that Satan gives us is of lies, hate, fear, and insecurity. Why would we want to become servants of one that lies to us, hates us, and would have us be fearful and insecure? Just in that I could see how Hell would be like a pit full of fire and brimstone.
The blind man in Chapter 9 has inspired me to action. The Pharisees were asking the blind man who healed him, and the blind man kept saying, a prophet, a prophet. The Pharisees wanted the blind man to take his answer back and respond differently, and they asked him again. I love the blind man’s response in verses 27, 30, 33, 35, and 38-41. He says, “I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? Will ye also be his disciples?” and then the Pharisees were like, we are disciples of Moses, and we know that Moses was from God, but we don’t know where your guy that healed you came from. And the blind man says, “Why herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes”. The blind man had such faith, devotion, and love. He defended the Savior even when he didn’t know who he really was.

How many veggies can I eat in a day?

So I've decided to start eating the way I ate from like april to september/october of 2008. I didn't eat any sugars (except from fruit-- no chocolate, cake, goodies). I ate a gazillion vegetables, cut the carbs in half and upped my protein. I felt so healthy and so good. I've decided I should go back to that because not only did I feel good, my skin looked good too! So this is my.. 5th (?) day eating that way again.
I think it's good for anyone to eat this way. My doctor explained that when you don't give your body the things it needs to function on a daily basis, it steals it from somewhere in your body. So your body is going to get what it needs whether you give it to it or not! So for example, if you don't give your body the protein it needs, your body will steal it from your heart and make your heart weak. Or, if you don't give your body enough calcium, your body will steal it from your bones and make your bones brittle over time. I knew this before, but it never really hit me until he explained it to me like that.

Hitting the Books

For those of you who don't know, I'm back at BYU-Idaho. Even though this is just the beginning of my third week, I've already had 3 quizzes and two tests (with two more tests to come tomorrow) and an oral interview in my Spanish class. I've only seen my Book of Mormon teacher twice (as he's had two surgeries and complications with that). This semester has gotten off to a crazy start, but I feel like it's going to be a great semester. :)

Dairy Free

So today was my very first official day being off dairy.
It's not hard so far... so we'll see how this goes. For breakfast I had a piece of chicken from dinner last night and a pear. For lunch/brunch I had tuna (straight from the can) and an apple with peanut butter and for dinner flank steak, hasbrowns and green beans. Not too bad. All I need to do now is add that "green" drink that Dr. Schore wants me to drink. It's vegetables blended together. Blech! Who knows.. it could be good....???

Fall Fun

The past couple weeks have been really fun- I've been hanging out with my friends at home more. We went to a corn maze and we've gone out to dinner and we had a fun night decorating cookies (although I couldn't eat one, I decorated one anyway). Here are some pictures from the past week or so.

There are two fences at the border- the first fence (according to the guide) was more like a ladder which helped mexicans over, (the red fence) so they have begun the process of building the second fence (the grey one) to ensure that after you climb the first fence, you will be stopped by the second fence. But technically, once you reach the second fence you are already on american soil.

So tomorrow I head out on my adventure with Jenny to San Diego, California. We depart Seatac at 8:25am and have a layover in San Jose. We will depart from San Jose at 11:55am and arrive in San Diego around 1pm. Here are some of the things we plan to do:

-San Diego Zoo
-Mexico (day trip)
-Disneyland
-Universal Studios
-Hit the beach

I am VERY excited, and plan to post pictures of our adventure.
